Today’s Friday Travel Photo takes you high into the Southern Alps of New Zealand.
While you have a number of different options for seeing the mountain range of the South Island, a helicopter ride is certainly one of the most epic ways to take them in.

Beautiful! We wanted to do the helihike when we were at Fox Glacier but our budget suffocated that plan. It’s so gorgeous, there.
@Akilia & @Eli It’s certainly not a budget option – yet worth the experience if you can fit it into the budget. If the budget doesn’t suffocate the plan, the weather may do it instead! I’d only splurge on a guaranteed clear day. You’re doing it for the views, and if there is any cloud cover, I’d cancel the plan.
@Drew Cheers! Worth a visit …
Gorgeous photo – one of these days I need to get myself up to the Alps. Hopefully soon…
I always wanted to do a helicopter ride but I’ve been afraid of the cost. Nice photo, though.
Beautiful. We are seeing so many awesome posts on New Zealand lately, we really have to get ourselves there.
@Dave and Deb Perhaps this should be your next destination?!
@Dina Glad you enjoyed your road trip! Looks like you had great weather for your helicopter ride.
Agreed! I have a picture of a heli on the Southern Alps of NZ as well in my last post about my 2 weeks in South Island (CommentLuv will give you the link to it). Check it out, we mentioned you in the post 🙂
I’m hoping that helicopter adventures will fit into my travel budget in the future! Looks like a lot of fun!
