With the clocks going back an hour yesterday, it’s now more than evident that Autumn is on its way to Queenstown. The days are getting shorter, the evenings cooler and the leaves around the Wakatipu Basin are changing color.
As a paraglider, this means the days of thermic flights are likely behind us. No longer will we be able to harness the power of rising thermic air to stay up longer and to fly further. Yesterday was an overcast, calm and cool day – a perfect day for a hike-n-fly up Coronet Peak just outside of beautiful Queenstown.
I’ve posted quite a few photos from my paragliding missions on this blog, but one thing that’s been lacking is video footage. I must invest in a GoPro some day soon, but in the meantime, I thought I’d see what I could put together with only my iPhone.
This three minute video was shot entirely with my iPhone 5S and edited completely on the iPhone using the Videoshop app. Outside of the audio at times being lost to the wind and the music, I’m pretty stoked with how it turned out. Enjoy.
Amazing views “down there” in New Zealand. Ironically it looks like Italy upside-down.
You are courageous. Just take care and don’t hurt yourself.
Thanks!
